In 2016, Molly began her journey with a new form of exercise, rock climbing.  Over the past year she has made many new  friends with the same interest in climbing. When word was spread about a new climbing gym opening, Molly and her friends decided to check it out. With such an inviting atmosphere and friendly faces, Adventure HQ became like a second home. With a beautiful studio space and Molly's knowledge and experience in ballet, the HQ owners and Molly have made it possible for Fifth Position Ballet to become a real opportunity for all.

Our Story: About

About Our Name

Minutes, to hour, to days picking a name for a new school was not easy. Toying with silly names, cute names, professional names. Pondering on the past, Miss. Molly remembered one of the most inspiring documentaries on ballet.

There is a movie called First Position. It is a documentary that follows the life of five ballet students on their journey preparing for a life changing competition.

This stemmed the idea of our name.

Fifth Position is actually a position in ballet.

When the feet are completely crossed toe to heel

(Page 139, Technical Manual and Dictionary of Classical Ballet, By Gail Grant, publisher BN Publishing 2014).

It is one that all dancers will grow to know. Most students will not use fifth position until the student can manage the first 4 positions with the correct technique.

The word Ballet has so many meanings.

Something Simple About Ballet

Ballet is an art form. Yes, like a piece of art from a museum or literature. According to Google, It is an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Classical ballet, which originated in Renaissance Italy and established its present form during the 19th century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements and the use of pointe shoes. It is a way people can tell stories. Example, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Giselle, Firebird, and the list goes on. The artist is the choreographer and the dancer. Together they can create stories to tell with certain moves and techniques. As the dancer, it is their duty to push their body, remember the choreography, and express their character all to the music.

Some of the most talented choreographers are: George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Robert Joffery, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Christopher Wheeldon, Gerald Arpino (one of Molly's many favorites), and many more.

Our stance on the Ballet world

Ballet Is not a Joke!

Many people suggest that ballet is easy.

It is practiced everyday to look easy and fluid.

BUT it would take hundreds of years to perfect this art form.

Another comment would be, All guys who are ballet dancers are gay..... or Makes them Gay...

This is not true. There are thousands of dancers who are Straight. Do not allow stereotypes and lies keep your son or daughter from perusing the arts.

Ballet is not a Sport!

Many people confuse ballet and gymnastics/cheer/etc.. together. But there is a Huge difference. Gymnastics do more tricks and flips. Whereas, Ballet is very technical and focused on every little detail. Ballet is an art form.

Your Teacher

Miss.Molly is our main instructor. However as classes get larger and the ages broaden she hopes to bring in a few guest teachers.

Molly Wicker

Molly Wicker has danced for many years with training from many different schools and instructors. Molly danced locally in her hometown of Vero Beach, FL, with Vero Ballet and with Indian River Charter High School. In 2014, she earned a scholarship for a two-month summer intensive with Joffery Ballet School in NYC training with some of the top teachers in the U.S. Following her adventure after New York, Molly moved to Nashville, TN. Where she danced with Nashville Ballet for nine months. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Miss. Molly discontinued her training in the summer of 2015. However, her passion and love for ballet has never ceased.
Without pointe shoes, hair pins, and Tutu’s, Miss. Molly found new passions in photography and rock climbing. Apart of the small number of climbers in Melbourne, FL, she fell in love with the Adventure HQ bouldering section. With Adventure HQ new beginnings, it has led to this amazing opportunity for Fifth Position Ballet start. Molly has “partnered” with Adventure HQ to bring Fifth Position Ballet to you and your student.
